Mulatta-Not So Tragic

Working on this book with my good friend has really brought me joy. We have been exchanging poetry for over 10 years. I remember when we first started this project, where we both were in our lives. Since we began we have had marriages and break ups, I moved abroad for three years, our children have left the nest for their next steps. I am really happy to have found a publisher to get this work out.

One crazy thing that happened is that the publisher, Fleur du Mal, is actually also owned by a lingerie company and so when you try to get the book you might be in for a surprise. Our story delves into issues of the objectification of women and the value of beauty over anything else, so I guess it is a happy irony.. although I do not find it to be too happy, personally.
